What is Packrafting?
A packraft is an individual-size inflatable boat that’s tough and durable, but also light and compact. A packraft is designed to fit in a large backpack. Packrafting is a relatively new sport in the outdoor world. Much more stable than tubing- easily attack those rapids! Light enough to be carried long distances, packrafts are the perfect add-on to any adventure. Biking, hiking, car camping, traveling, you name it. Supplies and gear are stored easily in the pontoon chamber of the raft before inflating. Grab a paddle, strap any larger gear on top, and you’re ready to adventure!
Our Adventure West shop is right on the Clear Creek near the takeout area so you can use your Kokopelli packraft to boat in Golden or rent one or more daily or for multiple days and venture wherever you like!
Packraft Rental Pricing
Planning Your Trip:
- ONLINE RESERVATIONS REQUIRED due to limited supply of packrafts.
- Participants must be able to swim. All minors (17 years and younger) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to co-sign liability waiver.
- Shoes required (no flip-flops)– we have high quality surf booties for rent for $5 or water shoes for sale for $12.
- Wear your bathing suit. Adventure West has gear available for purchase for reasonable prices. See FAQ for complete list.
- River flow rate and whitewater rapids change throughout the season. Click here for current flow rate.
- No alcohol allowed on the river per park rules. There are many breweries and restaurants within walking distance of Adventure West’s stand for your post-float fiesta!
- Check Golden weather report for floating conditions. Generally open rain or shine.

Policies:
- We reserve the right not to rent to anyone who is intoxicated.
- All participants must sign the Adventure West liability waiver and all minors (17 or under) must have a liability waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.
- Photo ID is required to rent. We will temporarily put a hold for on your credit card for replacement cost of each packraft until returned in the same condition as rented. You will be charged the full retail amount of any significantly damaged, destroyed, or lost equipment.
- We want you to have the most memorable and enjoyable experience on the river! That being said, we also want you to be SAFE. In order to do this we ask that you abide by the City of Golden Parks and Recreation Rules https://www.cityofgolden.net/media/ParkUseGuidelines.pdf

Adventure West’s equipment rental stand is located at 423 10th Street (Rear), Golden, CO 80401. Limited parking available at the stand. More parking available in the city lots, on street, or in the Downtown Parking Garage in Prospector’s Alley, Golden, CO 80401.
